OPORD Blue Book Updates

As part of an ongoing commitment to producing the highest-quality and most accurate material possible, The OPORD Blue Book is reviewed and updated as needed. The original publication was released as Version 1.0 in December 2025. Any update to the guide results in a new version number so readers can clearly see when a change has been made.
Most updates are incremental. When the number after the decimal changes (for example, 1.0 to 1.1 or 1.2), the update consists of small refinements and improvements that generally do not change the core content of the guide. When the whole number changes (for example, from Version 1 to Version 2), the update reflects a deliberate and substantive revision to the guide. Movement from one whole number to the next will generally occur only after multiple incremental updates.
The version number indicates that an update has occurred; this page explains exactly what changed between versions.
Updates may include improvements to clarity, formatting, and presentation, as well as refinements informed by evolving doctrine, best practices, and community feedback. Changes of note are documented below so readers can quickly identify what is new without comparing editions line by line.
